Cyberpunk 2030 - An Impending Darkness
Brooding, impatient, seeker of justice, frustrated by a world of casual indifference.
For as long as he could remember Ryn was on the streets. During the early years of his childhood he was raised by a loose group of homeless people. When he was old enough, approximately seven years old, he wandered the streets with other vagrant youth. Though these years were difficult, they strongly defined who Ryn became. He was frequently exposed and subject to intense hunger, poverty, crime, discrimination and all manner of cruelty. Ryn quickly developed a deep abiding hatred for the rich, powerful, and law makers that had the means to make his life better but did not. At the age of 13, while trying to help a female friend, Ryn attacked a pair of corrupt LE Div officers. One was killed before the other managed to restrain Ryn, beating him nearly to death. His story quickly spread and made news headlines for almost a week. The Mayor of Night City, in an attempt to garner public opinion, issued a press release outlining the woes of the homeless and how he himself would make it his mission to help them. As part of this promise, Ryn was put up for adoption. William and Sandra Raine, owners of Raine Media Corporation, immediately insisted that he be given into their care. The transition was difficult at first but eventually became easier. For the first time in his life he was part of a family that genuinely cared for him. The next six years would be described as almost idyllic. At the age of 19 Ryn was drawn back to the streets. This time, frustrated by the casual indifference the upper class displayed to the poor and exploited of Night City. Ryn left his picture-perfect life and settled into life on the streets. This time however, he was equipped and trained to survive. While working on a job, Ryn met another edge runner by the name of Byde. Though he seemed careless and irresponsible, the two runners would develop a partnership that would span the next seven years.
